Sorrelcourt Stud came into being over 16 years ago when I started the search for a stallion to use on a Dales mare we had, hoping to breed a future competition pony for my daughter. I used the very well know stallion State Diplomacy and in 1992 Charlie was born. I named her after my grandfather. She was a lovely chestnut filly but as the best laid plans of mice and men my daughter outgrew her before she could compete her.
Charlie has had a very successful competition career thanks to the dedication of her devoted owner Kate Read.
For some years Sorrelcourt Stud continued breeding competition horses on a very small scale with some success. My daughter Marie joined the day to day running of the stud and I took over the office duties. Marie wanted to branch out into Welsh Section C’s after a friend moved to Australia leaving with us the Sec C Stallion Annanbank Aneurin. We bought some well bred mares for breeding and have some nice C young stock waiting to come out under saddle.
My love for coloureds started as a child when my father used to fetch them from Ireland to hunt, compete and breed. After buying a coloured part bred Arab filly foal (Indian Dawn) in 1998, I knew my dream had come true.
Now we hope to breed quality Coloureds with brains, ability and good temperaments for competition and showing. We cannot keep all our young stock and are always willing to sell to committed people who wish to compete and show.
